Have peace of mind that your kids are taken care of while you're at work

When it comes to having a baby, chances are there'll be numerous questions floating around in the parents heads - how do I raise my child? What shall I name him or her? How much will it cost to raise a baby? With so many questions that need answers to, chances are that there'll be a couple of questions that get overlooked... one question that tends to get overlooked by some is "what will happen to my child when we are both ready to go back and work?" Although being a stay at home parent is the preferred option for some, not many can afford this option, as it means relying on one income to support the family.

If you're not able to afford the 'stay at home parent' option, there are still a few child care options for you to consider. The most ideal option is to have a family member or friend to take care of your child, however not many will be as lucky to have that option available. The other two options available are hiring a nanny or a childcare centre.

While there may be a number of pros with hiring a nanny (such as one-on-one care for your child), this is the more costly option for childcare. Paying a full time or part time nanny to take care of your child can average from $8 an hour to $19 an hour. That means that hiring a nanny to look after your child during regular work hours (9am to 5pm) can cost you around $700 a week! For some, that is one person's entire income for the week.

If the option of hiring a nanny is a bit too expensive for you, your next option is to put your child into an early childcare centre. This is going to be the most affordable option for most, as this is the most popular form of childcare. Although putting your child into a childcare centre won't mean one-on-one care throughout the day, they will be in a completely supervised environment and given the option to socialise and interact with other kids their own age. This is a great start to preparing your child for a schooling environment.

There are a range of activities that your child will be involved in whilst in a childcare centre - activities that peak your child's interests (such as gardening, cooking, painting, music and sewing) are always done throughout your child's education at the centre. Some of the childcare centres out there will divide the children into specific age groups, to ensure that everyone gets age appropriate activities.

Different childhood centres will have different specifications as to what age the child should be when entering the centre. While some offer a centre from newborns to 5 year olds, others may only take in 2 year olds to 5 year olds. All early childhood centres have qualified teachers, so you can always have peace of mind that your child is being taught not just by anyone, but by the best of the best.

Many children nowadays are being enrolled in 'Montessori schools'. Montessori schools educate children using the Montessori philosophy, which is to educate kids about respect for one another, freedom and independence. As oppose to being taught (what's considered to be) by 'formal teaching methods', children are taught to develop interests and activities themselves. Located throughout the entire North and South islands, Montessori childcare centres are all taught by registered Montessori educators.

Naturally, as a parent, you will not want you children being looked after by just anyone - therefore be sure to search different early childhood education centres online to get an idea about which centre will be best for your child.
