The act of pet adoption rescue is a profound activity that tragically takes place in this country on a daily basis, much too often. All types of animals are abused, neglected or discarded as if the bonds that they have established with human beings are of no significance whatsoever. The reality is that most abandoned animals left on the street will find their way to an animal shelter and end up being put to death because no one wants to adopt them. Each day across the United States, in every city, this tragedy occurs again and again. Pet rescue is such an overwhelming need because more pets are born each year in this country than there are loving homes to take care of them. If more dog and cat owners would spay and neuter their animals in a responsible way, there would many fewer unwanted animals leading to overpopulation. Before pets are euthanized, thousands of unnamed individuals work tirelessly, as does the Humane Society, to find homes for as many of these unfortunate pets as possible. Pet adoption agencies, which are almost wholly staffed by volunteers who give of their precious time, do their best to provide dignified care and comfort to the dogs, cats and other animals in their charge. Experts in the area of pet rescue do not recommend that people buy their next pet from a local pet store. Quite often these animal were bought from "puppy mill" settings where profit is the only consideration. At these puppy mills, squalid, atrocious and generally inhumane conditions exist for the cats, dogs and other animals. Professionals in pet adoption rescue insist that buying pets from local pet stores simply reinforces the cycle of notorious mistreatment that exists in puppy mills. Alternatively, they suggest you can help end animal abuse by purchasing your next pet from your local SPCA or pet adoption center where there are many great pets in need of a home. All the pets born would be loved and cared for if this were an ideal world. Tragically, neglect and abuse takes place by too many breeders who view their pets as a commodity. It's a sad state of affairs that so many animals are treated inhumanely when these creatures that inhabit our world deserve all the honor and dignity we can provide. You can be part of the solution that will reduce the demand for pet adoption rescues in the US by getting a pound or pet shelter pet. Then, to make sure there are no unintentional pregnancies, spay or neuter your dogs or cats at the appropriate time. And finally, bestow on your pet all your love and care so it is happy and healthy in its short stay on earth. About the Author: Our country has a terrible problem with unwanted animals.
