Your Dog Isn't Really Bad

When the owner calls the dog bad, the truth of the matter is the owner is probably the cause of the unwanted behavior. Imagine how annoyed you become when a dog pounces on you as you are out taking a walk along the sidewalk. Or your new neighbor has a huge dog that likes to leave piles of 'calling cards' in your front yard. Ultimately it is the way you train a dog that results in their actual behavior.  Much like children who have not been raised very well and act inappropriately. How can you expect any good manners from dogs and children when the adults in some homes do not know their responsibilities?

Dogs need to be given limits for behavior inside the home, outside the home and while walking in public places. Ask any good owner and he would admit that using the help of a dog trainer is the best way to understanding dog handling without hampering the dog's spirits. Ask the help of your veterinarian or pet store to locate trainers who conduct private or group sessions; alternatively, you could go online and take the help of an online course.

Owners can learn how to manage their pets from this training. Trainers often mention, however, that owners are more difficult to teach when it comes to dog training. When you want to leash train your dog as he walks in public or a park, it is best to get them used to the leash first in a place they know well. Barking is often a behavior that distresses owners and neighbors. Shouting or punishing your pet for engaging in this normal communication is counterproductive - as well as confusing to the animal.

When a dog needs something to eat or drink, even to be played with, they will begin to bark. A barking dog can also be a strong deterrent to burglars, so completely suppressing its bark might not be in your best interest. Remember not to promote barking when he is a puppy and then get all worked up when he continues to bark even more as he gets bigger.

You can bring about a change in behavior in your favor by providing praise and a special treat; which is something the trainer will show you how to achieve. You could start rewarding and motivating your puppy so he will continue with the good behavior; most animals will normally stop doing things for which they get reprimanded. You can not teach a dog some behavioral pattern which contradicts his natural breed. You should look into breeds that exhibit particular characteristics if you want them from your pet. Good dog behavior is the result of patience, consistency, determination and the love you give to the animal.
