There are several home remedies ear mites will hate, but you will love. Pets often shake their heads and scratch their ears when the very tiny ear mites invade their ears. Since the mites are very contagious, if you have more than one pet in the home, all pets should be treated.

If you pet is infected with mites, when you look at the pet's ears, there will be a buildup of ear wax, with very tiny black bits. This is an indication of ear mites. First you will need to clean the pet's ears with using eyedropper or a medicine dropper with a plunger, using vegetable, mineral or olive oil. Put the oil in the ear, rubbing the oil to help loosen the ear mite dirt. Finish by wiping gently with a cotton ball to remove the oil along with the wax and ear mite debris. A cotton swab can be used, but be very careful that you do not push the debris further into the canal of the ear or puncture the canal of the ear.

Vinegar is also a good ear cleaner, us 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar. Peroxide and alcohol in equal parts can also be used. Follow the same steps, apply, rub and remove. Stinging can occur if the ears seem sore or red.

Now that the ears are clean, its time to start treatment. Putting oils into the ears smothers the mites. Corn, olive or mineral oil can be used. Also, almond or olive oil mixed with vitamin E has been found very effective. The oil and vitamin E should be mixed, 1/2 cup oil to 400 IU of vitamin E. The oil is applied and wiped with a cotton ball, the same using the same method as cleaning.

Still another method to eliminate mites is yellow dock root extract. Mix 9 drops of yellow dock root extract and 1TBS water; place one half an eyedropper in each ear. This treatment should be done every other day, until all signs of mites are gone.

Four cloves of garlic, crushed into one cup of olive oil is another great treatment. Soak the garlic over night in the oil, discard garlic the next day and apply the garlic oil in of the ears. Ending with a good rub and cleaning with cotton. This oil is better if it is warmed a bit.

With these home remedies ear mites will be gone, and Rover or Fluffy will thank you.
